“This custom Rubik’s cube represents invention and the idea of the new. Inventor Ernő Rubik was a Hungarian inventor, as am I, and I wanted to illustrate different aspects of the idea of invention onto this object of innovation that came from my mother country. On one side there is a tennis ball, which is a pristine object until used, after which the fabric on it becomes dirtyand torn. On another there is a Flower, new as it lives but quickly dying. Newness is fleeting, and invention is never segmented-- as in... we and new things exist in a timeline of progress and neither can be fully be attributed to any one person, although one person can make great leaps in terms of acceleration.”
